(bitter)Sweet Sixteen

So.. BYU lost.
I know you are all probably excited that this will be one of my last posts about basketball (there will probably be one more to show off our March Madness decor because it was so bomb).
During the last minute of over-time, my roommates and I were silent. No one said anything.
Random guys from our ward would come in and talk to us (without knocking which is sometimes okay, but not last night). Of course they would tell us their opinions, which we didn't really want to hear then. Not to worry though, we eventually scared them away with our depression.

For almost an hour afterward, I felt all this stress and tension in my heart (and randomly my knees.. ). So Chelsea and I started a Cougar radio in our apartment and dedicated random songs to them. Some my favorites: Loser Like Me (Glee Cast), Who Says (Selena Gomez), and many other great ones. It really helped to calm us all down -- along with the brownies I made before the game started! Chocolate heals almost everything right?

Many people are saying that we lost because of Jimmer, however I am not one of the those unloyal fans! And since this is MY blog where MY opinions count -- even if I know very little about basketball -- I'll tell you what I think. There was a tweet last night "Live by the Jimmer. Die by the Jimmer." I personally don't think that a person who gets 32 points (above his average) can really count as the reason an entire team lost.
Of course that's just my humble (correct) opinion.

Anyway to end on a good note, here's some pictures from when I went to the airport last Saturday night! I stood in the cold and rain for almost two hours (11-12:30ish) in flip flops! Not only does that show my AMAZING dedication, but also explains the somewhat frumpy appearance!

Before they arrived, people thought WE were Jimmer with this awesome imitation.

Best Picture of Jimmer -- and girlfriend Whitney! (He disappeared so no picture WITH him).
Magnusson + The Studio 24!

Kyle Collinsworth!

Jackson thanked US for waiting in the rain. He was WAY nice!
Another awesome tweet today: It is better to have Jimmered and lost than to have never Jimmered at all.

  2. Kelli,
When I was at school at BYU we won a national championship in football. That was really exciting. I was on a mission when Danny Ainge brought greatness to BYU Basketball. That was great for the Univeristy also. BYU generally excels nationally in some sport every year. It is usually one of the less press oriented sports such as rugby, soccor, fencing, swimming, cross country etc., but it happens. Just be greatful for the experiences that you have had. It adds color to your life that you can build on. Any more I am a fan of BYU sports, but I don't get as depressed when they loose. I have other things that are more important, such as my daughter, whom I love and who is enjoying this special time in her life. I just enjoy hearing about her experiences, and wish her the best.

    Love Dad

  3. I like the last quote. And I totally agree that it isn't all his fault that we didn't win. It was a strange tournament this time around, with no 1 seed getting into the final four and all. My bracket is sunk cause I had Kansas going all the way. Better luck next year thought!
