Yesterday, I called the maintenance man for our apartment complex. Our roof was leaking, which was a little annoying and somewhat concerning. I called him and explained the problem, and I was so proud of myself for being a competent human being on the phone, which is something I struggle with. He said in his steady and sure maintenance man voice that he would be over soon.
I sat down to my homework, and almost forgot that he was coming until I heard a knock on the door. I walked over to the door, opened it and my life was changed: the handy-man was young and attractive.
I let him into the house. Pointed at the leaking roof, and told him to find out what the problem was.
"As you wish," he said.
He told me what the problem was, and I told him to fix it.
"As you wish," he said once more.
And then the capable maintenance man left his bucket to catch any further leaks, and walked out of my apartment.
I heard his footsteps on the roof a few minutes later, and I realized they were saying to me "As you wish..."
Someday when the maintenance man comes back for his bucket (and after I do an inconspicuous ring check), we will be reunited again.

ReplyDeleteYou're totally going to marry the maintenance man! CAN'T wait to hear all about T.Swift!
ReplyDeleteIf you did get married you wouldn't ever have to fix anything yourself.
ReplyDeleteDang girl, the sparks were flying! I didn't realize what was going on out there in the living room. :)
